NORMAL CLASS-3 DSC
A normal Class 3 Digital Signature
Certificate (DSC) is a type of digital certificate issued by Certifying
Authorities (CAs) to authenticate the identity of individuals or organisations
in electronic transactions. It provides a higher level of security compared to
Class 2 DSCs, as it involves a more rigorous identity verification process.
Class 3 DSCs are typically used for applications requiring a high level of
assurance, such as e-tendering, e-procurement, filing income tax returns, and
participating in online bidding processes where the integrity and authenticity
of the user's identity and documents are crucial. The Class 3 DSC uses advanced
encryption technology to ensure that all electronic communications and
transactions are secure and tamper-proof. It serves as a digital equivalent of
a handwritten signature, providing legal validity to electronic documents under
the Information Technology Act, 2000. This certificate ensures confidentiality,
integrity, and non-repudiation of data, which means that the sender cannot deny
having sent a signed document, and the receiver can verify its authenticity.
Obtaining a Class 3 DSC requires an applicant to undergo an in-person or
video-based verification process conducted by a licensed Certifying Authority,
ensuring the highest level of trust.
